February was decent, could have been better though. Had a 90 Buy in downswing at the start of the month where I ran awful and a 70 buy in downswing at the end of the month but that's expected I guess when the SnGs are Super Turbos and are full of regs. Anyway, there were some pretty good bonuses on offer which made up for the downswings.

So I've made a pretty decent start on my target of 100k for the year. I hope to be able to get at least halfway by June as our 3rd child will be born then. I'd like to be able to take a couple of months from poker when the baby comes.

In other poker news I have signed up to HUSNG.com to try and improve my HU part of my game, Watched a couple of vids by Mersenneary so far and they seem pretty good. I'm gonna try and play about 500 HU sngs per month starting at the 5$ or 10$ level, working my way up once I've beaten each level for 100 Buy Ins, so I'll see how that goes.

Away from poker, I've been taking my daughter to swimming lessons at the local swimming pool. She has been doing amazingly well at the swimming and has been moved up from the seahorses to the turtles. She's pretty chuffed with that and it's good for me too as I get some time away from the PC and some exercise in the big pool while she has her lessons.

Big game tonight with Celtic Playing Rangers again! Hopefully the Bhoys can get another win as good as the last game as that was pretty sweeeet. Let's gogogogogogogooo :)

April results

April was a bit of a mix, on the whole I'm pleased with the results but disappointed with the last half of the month where i ran like a sausage, tilted and played bad. However, 6.6k for the month makes it my best month to date for grinding sngs. Hopefully, Ill eventually have that elusive 10k month this year. Really thought it would be this month but oh well, guess I can't really complain!

January Results

January was a bit meh, Started of really well in the first week and the broke even (inc Rakeback) for the rest of the month. +3.1k in total, Graph for January below:



















The sharp increase in the graph was my 104th place finish in the 1 million dollar GT on ipoker. The tumble down at tourneys >800 was my first foray into double or nothings (lol at starting at the 55$ 6 max DoNs!) and the flat line was the 11$ DoNs - where I should have started.

Kinda annoying playing and breaking even for 3 weeks but thats the way it goes and it's not even that bad a breakeven stretch - and I don't have downswings - just long breakeven stretches ;)

January 2010 - Hello DoN!

Double or Nothing SnGs are ridiculous. I can't stand them. The rake is unbelievable on ipoker for these (10% up to and including the 55$ games) and you need to play like a nit....but I want to master them so I'm gonna try and play as many as possible over the next couple of months.

Earlier this week i gave the 55$ DoNs a bash and jumped right in 9-12 tabling these, looking back now I'm pretty sure I was making a ton of mistakes, as well as running pretty bad (all sng grinders run bad! :P) and I dropped about 20BI. So I've went back to sngWIZ start reviewing my game again, which is something I don't do enough of.

I've spent a bit of time analysing them with SnGWiz and it's ridiculous how tight you need to be on the bubble, so I'm gonna tone down the aggression and try not to spite call other regs on the bubble ( as much! :) ) as I'll just be burning money.

I've also purchased a little add-on for sngWiz which is really cool, WizHUD. It overlays HUD stats onto SnGWiz which really helps to assign ranges when reviewing your sng play. One feature of this program is that you can middle click a hand (or a selection of hands) in holdem manager and it will then load up in SnGWiz, magic - I love it!

I'm gonna use this blog to keep track of my winnings this year, as I fail pretty bad at keeping track of this stuff. I have estimates of previous years income from poker but all my hand histories and excel tables are scattered over about 6 hard drives, so I guess if I put here I won't lose the info once my laptop dies / PC fails. Plus hopefully this will motivate me into putting in maximum effort into improving as a player and increasing my volume.
